Mental Health

Mental health encompasses our emotional, psychological, and social well-being, and affects how we think, feel, and act and even how we relate to friends and family and make everyday choices.

We believe that mental health is just as important as an individual’s physical health. Despite mental health issues not always being visible to the naked eye, we know that nearly everyone throughout the course of life will at one point struggle with some issue to varying degrees.

How well you cope with life – your mental health – is just as important as your physical health. Worry, stress, anxiety affects everyone, but if it overwhelms your ability to cope, make good decisions, and have fulfilling relationships, you need help. Counseling, medications, and supportive friends can help strengthen your ability to cope – and improve your mental health.

A person’s mental health can be affected by any of the following or even a combination:

  • Biological factors (like genes and brain chemistry)
  • Life experiences (such as abuse, trauma, and neglect)
  • Family history of mental health issues
